Q. What is a Geriatric Care Manager?
A. A Geriatric Care Manager is a licensed professional whose expertise is the oversight of services provided to older adults.
Q. What does a care manager do?
A. The primary responsibility of a care manager is seeing to the client's overall welfare. The functions of a care manager include being an advocate, a voice for those who seek empowerment; serving as a liaison with providers of services, being the communication "hub"; arranging and monitoring services for the client, and consulting and educating the client and/or client's family and support systems about options derived from comprehensive assessments of the client's physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental strengths, weaknesses and concerns.
Q. Do I have to be an older adult to receive services?
A. Not necessarily; our expertise is in the areas of geriatric and/or disabled care.
Q. What services are provided?
A. The services we provide include Coordination of Care for a loved one, In-HomeCaregiving services if desired, downsizing and/or relocation of the elderly, and bill paying and management services.
A. We bill monthly for all services except Caregiving Services, which are billed on a bi-monthly.basis.

A. Yes. We can make either type of arrangement, and we will assess your situation to recommend what is in the best interest of your loved one and the whole family.
Q. Can you assess my father's condition and determine his needs?
A. Certainly. This is the springboard from which all care decisions made. Since each situation is different, no one solution fits all families.
Q. Can you be certain that my parents stay current with their bills?
A. Yes, we have a member of the American Association of Daily Money Managers on staff to assist those who want bill paying tasks managed for them.
Q. Can you monitor my mother's condition and care in her home or in a facility?
A. We can monitor your loved one at either location.
Q. Can you arrange for space and move my mother into the appropriate facility?
A. We can help guide you to a facility, and our relocation staff can work with your family member to help downsize their possessions to accomodat their new home.
Q. Can you recommend and coordinate support services such as medical specialists, care facilities, elder law attorneys, equipment sources (hospital beds, hearing aids, etc.) trust officers, and guardians?
A. Yes, over our 16 years of experience in Geriatric Care Management, we have developed relationships with other professionals to whom we would be happy to refer you after assessing your situation.
Q. What is your fee structure?
A. We bill for the time spent supporting your loved one and your family, travel time, and costs incurred directly for the client, such as medicines and medical supplies. In-home caregivers are billed by hourly or daily (24 hour) rates.
Q. I want to know that my mother is doing well at home alone, but I live too far away to visit often and help her with daily chores. How can I ensure that she is doing well?
A. Our Care Managers will keep in touch with you and your loved one at a frequency that meets your comfort level. If you desire in-home care to help your mother with chores, we can help you through our Caregiving Agency and assign a Caregiver to come into her home on a regular basis.
